l would very much like to get into driving in Touring Car racing. So how do l become one and what is the salary like?

Salary. highly variable. if you're lucky enough to get a works drive (e.g. official Vauxhall team, etc) u may actually get one.
To get to the point where u may be in with a chance of getting a works drive, u will have to arse-lick for hundreds of thousands of pounds of sponsorship money from many different companies to try fund it (and in the current economic climate r highly likely to tell u to get stuffed, unless u can prove you're actually any good)

Like most other succesful racers you need to get your rear end into a Go-Kart. This is where many of today is champions learnt their craft. It is relatively low cost and will prove if you have any talent due to the tight regulations making them very even in performance. Good Luck.
