He has looked pretty awful in his handful of runs.

Speed is a network that only covers nascar becuase it has the biggest fan base. IMO they look at his driving ability and compare it to open wheel drivers as well as le mans and other more pure forms of racing (aka can not just ram each other). But personally l think he will be great in NASCAR for a long time.

l think it may be a little quick, he has not even had a full season of Nationwide races.hopefully Zippy can help him next year.

He is not ready. He has been in full Gibbs equipment for 3 races now and still drives around the track in last place.

l am not sure who said it during the race yesterday (one of the announcers), but l agree totally. They said that they think drivers should be required to run two full seasons in either the truck series or the Nationwide series before they move up to the Cup level. Just look at Montoya. He is a great driver, but he made the move to cup too quickly & is having a hard time finding the top ten. Joey is so young-let him mature in the Nationwide series for another year, & then consider bringing him up to Cup.

Way to early. He needs a full season in Nationwide as well as trucks.

Well, not taking into consideration what Jimmy Spencer & etc said & just looking at his results in the Cup races he has ran so far, l think that they speak for themselves. Brad Keselowski scrapped the wall early in the race but still finished 19th 1 lap down. Whereas Joey did not & was one of the 1st to go a lap down by just running.

Lagano is not ready for Cup yet. Gibbs should have kept him in Busch longer and put a short term driver in the 20 car for next year so he could get some more experience before moving him up to Cup.

Very few drivers are ever really ready for Cup racing, but you do not know until you go do it. Keselowski did some impressive work at Texas. Logano has the winter to test and get up to speed.

l bet he finishes higher then Casey Mears next year. Bobby Labonte did not run too good yesterday as well and he is a past champ. l bet he will be fine. The Nationwide series wo not teach him anything at this point. He is been born and bred to race cars.
C yah!

He should run trucks or Nationwide before he is the next Casey Atwood. l guess he is the ''trash of the field'' he himself talked about.

l agree. He always had top cars in the Nationwide Series. The real test of a good driver is how well they can adapt to a bad car.
He just needs more seat time at a level where he can have success. Putting him in a bad car where he runs 40th every week is going to hurt his confidence.
Its too late now but l think running a full season in Nationwide next year + his best tracks (maybe 10-15 races total) in Cup would be best for a year. That would keep his confidence up since he should still post pretty good numbers at those tracks & still get lots of seat time.

l thought it was just the equipment that he was in (when he was in the 96), but in the 02 he did not prove to be any better. Maybe this weekend was a bad weekend or something, l do not know.
l think l will have a better judgement on it next weekend, but as of right now, it does not look like he is ready.

l would have liked to have seen him get another year in the Nationwide series! That was the plan before Tony took a walk on his contract with Gibbs. So now, ready or not here he comes to cup! l think he will have a mid-pack year in 09. Tony is old team and crew Chief will guide him along. He will be just fine, remember he is ''Better Than Sliced Bread'' Peace!

l agree that he is not ready by any means, but there really was not any choice. If Tony waited on his contract instead of breaking it early, then Logano could have waited a full year in the Nationwide series. There was not anyone else that Gibbs had to replace Tony. He is not ready, but l think part of him coming in early had to do with sponsorship issues. But Logano did say himself that he think he is ready, which l disagree with. He has not even run on tracks that r on the schedule, yet.

Since Logano only began his first Nationwide race this year, when they put him in the truck series AND the Cup series, l was like ''they are throwing too much at this kid too soon''. He is not ready for cup racing. He should spend a year or more in the Nationwide series first. The term ''sliced bread'' has gotten moldy.

He has looked awful and if he doesnt improve l will be questioning why Gibbs moved him up at a very young age. He needs to run at least one full Nationwide year before joining cup. Look at Brad Keselowski he ran about ten races last year in Nationwide and the full scheduled this year. Then he makes his first start this week and comes home with a respectable 19th place finish. l am willing to give Lagano more time especially in the 20 car
