I am not a fan of NASCAR , so my opinion is not worth anything, but l wanna know how the fans feel. If these rules were applied in Formula One we would be going crazy.

Very good points Andrea, but F1 solved that problem by closing the points gap from first to second place. They also added points for finishing in 7th and 8th place, when it used to go up to only 6th place. This has kept the championship close until the final races for the past few years.
TBone l do not know who thumbed you down, but you make very valid points. l just do not see how the Chase ensures that the most consistent driver during the course of a long season is rewarded. Kyle Bush was screwed by the Chase this season.

l think it is good but needs some tweeks.

l like how the points race doesnt stop when there are still 5 races left to go, l like that it comes down to the last race. It adds more intensity to the sport.

l dont like the fact that it is only the top 12 drivers that get reset and have a chance at it.

Well id say bad. True its kept Jeff Gordon from winning any more championships, its still bad. l mean you can not just eliminate the guys outside the top 12. But they should still give out the bonus points for the wins, only if they could find a way to make the two work together.

The Chase is a farce. It has not created anything it was meant to do. l do not have time to explain my reasoning but fans r scammed into believing this thing. The competition has changed over the last ten years so much that its not needed because without it the race to the end would still be close anyway compared to years past. Just look at the Nationwide & truck series. And also as a lifelong F1 fan look at this years win by Lewis. One of the most dramatic ever. He won it all on the last lap of the last race on the last turn. It does not get any better then that without any gimmicks like the chase.

Some of us r going crazy. I've hated it since it is inception, it is pathetic.
Those that like it sight the following reasons:

Boo-freakin'-hoo!! NASCAR survived 4 decades without the chase, it was not broke to begin with, it did not need to be fixed.
I've only watched F1 a handful of times, so l do not really know how the system works there.

l suppose its like formula 1 l cant remember, but its just as exciting as formula 1, since Juan Pablo Montoya has left formula 1 to become a Nascar driver he still has not won a world championship if l was him l would quit has he is getting worse.

Like Winter said, NASCAR went years & years without a ''Chase & just because one guy, Matt Kenseth, ran away with the title back in 2003 does not mean they have to change it. l am sorry, but if NASCAR changes the chase AGAIN, then my respect for the sport plummets. A lot. It shows me NASCAR is not committed. Just miss the chase? Oh, look, a top 12! l mean, what the heck!? Oh what the hey, let is do a top 20!!!!!!! No wait. a top 43!!!!! Let is change sponsorship! AGAIN!!!

Whew. got that off my chest.

Plus, on a side note, the Chase essentially robbed my driver of TWO potential championships.. l still can not believe it to this day. Oh well. l have to deal with it.

The Chase is the best thing to happen to NASCAR since Jimmie Johnson.The Chase(as it is now) puts more focus on wins:
a)during the regular season because the more wins u get in the first 26 races,the more bonus points u get to start the Chase with.
b)You almost HAVE to win at least one or two races in the Chase to win the championship,unless someone gets very lucky & finishes 2nd or 3rd the entire Chase.This takes away the boring ''riding around for points'' crap that we used to see.
As far as ''screwing'' the drivers that have been the best all season,that is NOT the case this year as Kyle Busch would still not be leading the points even if they had not been reset.Furthermore,every team knows the rules at the beginning of the season & knows that they:
a)have to be within the top 12 in points after race 26 to qualify for the Chase.
b)get as many wins as possible to have as many bonus points as possible to start the Chase with.
c)be consistent & competitive during the last 10 races of the season.
l see no excitement for giving a driver that has finished 10th or better all season with only a win or two the championship with 2 or 3 races to go in the season(like we used to see).Look at the drivers battling for the title right now;they have 16 wins between the three of them,with 6 of those wins coming since the Chase started(2 for Biffle,2 for Johnson,and 2 for Edwards) & all three r going to be trying everything in their power to win the next two(is that not exciting?)The Chase makes it interesting & exciting.The old system was boring & it did not make the drivers battle it out until the end,trying to win every single race,lead the most laps,and gain as many points as possible.That is my justification for the Chase.

u do not have to be a fan of nascar for ur opinion to mean nothing (or to mean something). & likewise, as a fan of nascar, l do not have to justify the rules of the chase, l just have to know them if l want to know what is going on. it is not my job to justify the rules of the chase - that is nascar is job. it is not a soccer fan is job to justify why soccer players can not just pick up the damn ball & throw it - that is just the way the game is played. l can either like it or not, & l show that by either watching & supporting the sport, or not.

The chase was made to make things more exciting. l think it has done ok so far, not as good as expected. It screwed Kyle Bush this year, & it screwed Jeff Gordon last year, but that is part of it. They knew going in the point of the first 26 races is to make it in the chase & get as many bonus points as u can, & the point of the last 10 is to dominate (the ones that really matter). Kyle Bush could not do that. Love him or hate, Jimmie Johnson has got it figured out, & they r tough to beat. Until someone puts a program together to beat them at these ten tracks, then l do not see anything stopping him from winning four or five in a row

If only the four richest teams make the chase why bother having a 43 car feild every week Give spots to rich teams , drop schedule to 10 races and do not waste the time or money of other teams or fans
