think of all the times things went wrong for him and he was THIS close to winning yet his luck failed him at the end. your thoughts? l feel bad for the guy, was never sold on him being a champion but he rose to the occasion but his luck ran out a few times.
you got a point there....he tends to spin out often and can only seem to win from the front. his race damage control is bad so if he gets in a bad position in the race you can pretty much figure that he will just say screw it.

l feel for him but i'm not convinced by his driving this year. If he ever wins the title, l would like him to do it in a season without having races where he spins himself out or gets gfted points by the FIA.

IMO hes lucky to of got a ferrari drive, remember his 3 years of Sauber destruction? Admittedly he has upped hi game a lot this year and was equal to Lewis, cruel to loose a title on the last corner though, will he get another chance, surely Kimi will be back in 09?

Definitely Not. He had his share of bad luck, but also good luck. Most people concur that Felipe is the most improved driver of 2008. He entered 2008 as a second Ferrari driver, & ended with the No.1 status. The italian press asked to sack him, now they praise him.

He missed points in the first two races & in Silverstone had one of the worst performances ever for a Ferrari. Notwithstanding he arrived to Brazil with real chance to become Champion. He is one of the top three drivers in F1 & has a two year contract with Ferrari. l do not see any bad luck there.

If u want to talk about bad luck u should consider Mark Webber or Jenson Button.

l think people are very unfair to him and ignore facts. The mid season Ferrari was a beast in the wet and he lost two races (20 points) through no fault of his own. Hamilton on the other hand smacks a barrier at Monaco and lucks into a strategy that wins the race. Hamilton drives dangerously at Monza and nothing is done.
Felipe is unlucky no doubt about it.

His time will come.

If he did not crash that much at the beginning off the season he would not ned luck, so IMO he made his luck.

l do not think he had an unlucky year. All racing is luck, skill & taking risks. This year was no different, most drivers had ups & downs look at Kimi who did well at the start of the year but dropped off. Hamilton was penalised for everything & massa had a blown engine or just car issues.

l think he did well for the year, he got more points than Kimi & only lost the WC by a point. He showed pace but had similar issues that hamilton had when his race was not going well, l felt hamilton wanted it more. Should be interesting next year with the push to pass button!!

Not so much unlucky as being pitted against Lewis Hamilton, who has shown a knack for climbing back up even with all those penalties.

Frankly, l think the pit incident at Singapore did him in but that is just me.

Aye he was unlucky, the car went wrong in a couple of races for him that would have made a great impact on the WDC but that is life eh

All the drivers had some good luck and some bad luck this season.

You could argue that Kimi would have had a shot at the title had Hamilton not crashed into him at Canada and his exchaust failed at France, he would then have been leading Massa and Hamilton by a big margin.

Massa had good luck at Spa where he was given the win despite being clearly slower than Kimi and Hamilton all race. He was also gifted 2nd place in China.

l think he was just as unlucky as Hammy has been, but its his tendency to bin it when the going gets tough that makes me wonder
