l think if jimmie johnson stays racing in nascar as long as jeff gordon does he will surpass him in wins and championships. l think by the end of jimmie is career he will be 3rd on the all time wins list.

A great career no doubt but what is wrong with him now..... l hate to tell you this but #48 would probably get voted captain of that ship right now.

Asker: l assume that you probably gave me a thumbs down for my answer but you are crazy if you do not think that Jimmie Johnson is the best driver on that team RIGHT NOW. It can be argued that Jeff is better OVERALL (maybe) but RIGHT NOW, JJ is #1 on that team and Jr is still the cash cow.

l believe Johnson will end up passing Jeff Gordon for the number if wins if he continues winning with the pace he has been winning since 2002.

l do not think Jimmie will end up with more wins than Jeff but might have more titles but Jimmie has not won under the old system & would not have won the last 2 if they did not change formats & Jeff would have 6 titles now instead of 4 but that is the way it is l guess

Actually,that would be 81 wins in 16 years.Gordon has been racing in the Cup series full-time since 1993.
l think Jimmie Johnson would be the only driver able to possibly exceed those numbers within that time frame.However(as l have stated on some other questions),competition is tougher these days than it was back in Gordon is prime,and those days were tougher than the previous era.
Jimmie has 38 wins in 7 seasons so far,so if he stays on pace he will have 76 wins after 14 years & would definitely make up the other five wins during the other two years that would make it 81 wins in 16 years.

The only one maybe who could do it would be Kyle Busch.

if by 14 years u mean 16, then yeah, it is pretty impressive. but u want to know what is more impressive? dale earnhardt is 7 championships in a 16 year span, compared to gordons 4. in case anyone is trying to do the math in their heads the intimidator was a rookie in '79 & he won his 7th title in '94, that is 16 years. whatever happened to all the cocky gordon fans who used to brag about how gordon was gonna win 7 championships on a much faster pace than earnhardt did, how is that workin' out now that the well has been dry for gordon since '01?
