l do not think so. Bloomberg is notorious for posting bad information. There is no real source to support the article.

The dropping of GM is sponsorship for races is not new news. The other car manufacturer is have already starting picking up sponsorship - this sponsorship is what allows the car company to provide the pace car, & the vehicles that parade around the track with the drivers in them after driver introductions. Toyota has already picked up some of these sponsorships as has Ford.

The pull out of Chrysler for backing of Dodges, is not surprising, they pulled out of NASCAR years ago too. The teams will just pick up another manufacturer in all likelihood.

The news about Sears not backing the Truck Series is old as well. As with the other series, they will have to search for a new sponsor & probably tighten their belts.

NASCAR is not going away, it just looks like we're going to see changes in the sport again, which is pretty common throughout the years.

For a Non-NASCAR fan, you sure hang out with us a lot. Trying to compensate for something are ya??

l agree Get Real. NACAR has brought this own themselves by favoring the 88 and 48 this whole time. The difference is that the 48 can take the advantages NASCAR gives him and win, but the 88 can not. That speaks volumes for the direction NASCAR is heading.

to the guy below me: l do not need to read anything to know that we r in a deepening reccession, that is not news pal, we're all perfectly aware. & of course, like every other industry & part of society, our country is economic woes will certainly affect NASCAR, in terms of sponsorships, manufacturer support, ect. DUH, you're not telling us anything we do not already know. but if u know ur history u will know that our economy also went through a deep recession & oil crisis in the early 1970s. it was so bad at that time that that u could only buy gas on even or odd dates, depending on wether the last digit on ur licence plate was an even or odd #. (there were no such things as vanity plates back then) & what is more, NASCAR was no where near as big & popular then as it is today, it was just a nitch southern sport with no live TV coverage. but guess what? NASCAR survived & then it thrived. so times will be tough for NASCAR, sure, just like they will be for every other aspect of society. there may be some races with 36 cars instead of 43, & some 500 mile races reduced to 400. but that is ok, NASCAR will be fine in the end. the bottom line is, the asker is a pain in the ss troll who hates NASCAR (look closely at his avator for pete is sake) & is always on here asking stupid questions about how NASCAR is in trouble.

Guess a lot of people above me who answered did not read the source article or have keep up with other NASCAR fiscal news (may be they can not read) but fats r facts NASCAR may not have enough competitive cars to field a full Field next year. Chevron is gone after 21 years (Havoline Oil) GM is greatly reducing it is funding, & even the great JR does not have a sponsor for his nationwide car & NASCAR is having trouble getting backers to back races ( GM is pulling its backing on three races) NASCAR has hit the wall & better hope its crash barriers hold through this crisis other wise it is history as we know it
