Using specialty, short run engines that will be more effective in getting the car in the show and accepting the engine change penalty?

Many of them just do not have the money to swap out engines.

l think if they could afford it, they would. This is why the one engine rule was enacted because most of the big $$ competitors did this every race, but most of the go or go homers are smaller teams, so l do not think they can afford it.

Nascar has to approve the engine change. In theory the engine has to be damaged. Teams could fake it a time or two but not all the time.

The other problem is there is not much power difference between the present race engines and an all out qualifying engine these days. The higher qualifying speeds are mostly due to tuning, thinner and less fluids along with new tires and a two lap chassis setup.

Most of the smaller teams do not have the sponsorship money and are just glad to get into the race. Few of the severely underfunded teams do not even run the race if they even make it.
