Oxygen is not fed. nor air. It is a straw for their drinking system which only some drivers use.
Nowadays they r made of composite fiber.
Every single helmet design has a different impact rating.
The padding is normally EPS foam.
Nowadays they weigh only 3 to 5 lbs.

On a side note one of the newest technologies is making a mold of the drivers face to make the padding fit perfectly to prevent the head from moving around from side to side in the helmet.
As Jay said below me the hose on top is for the cooling system. A cool head is a happy head. This used to be near the mouth but they found it more beneficial to cool the head.

Different helmet manufacturers use different materials. Different forms of fiberglass, carbon fiber, and/or kevlar are the main ingredients in the outer shell. The inner material can be some form of expanded polystyrene with a nomex fabric. Pro racers typically just have some type of air recirculating system for a cool, fresh air supply. Having pure oxygen on board a race car can be dangerous. Typical weight can be between 3 and 8 lbs.

watch'em when they put 'em on some have a hose thats stuck right in the top you will notice that on very hot race days
