note: this is not really much of a Nascar question, but i'm a little bummed about the reality of it being autumn. cause it is going to feel like the middle of December in a few days with a little snow fall (flurries) this Monday here in Wisconsin. so l threw in a question asking what the coldest temperature was during a nascar race, and if any and all races have ever been postponed due to snow.

l almost forgot. Yes there was a race in Atlanta postponed plus it snowed at Bristol a couple years ago. Kurt Busch did a snow angel after he won.

l seem to recall a race at Atlanta being postponed due to snow about 13 or 14 years ago, but l can not remember for sure. l will see if l can find it in a few minutes.

l can not find it, but GAK has to be talking about the same race l am.

Yeah the blizzard of 93 l think had an affect on the Atlanta race.then a couple years ago at Bristol, Tn, they had to delay a race because of snow and the race car drivers were having snowball fights with the fans. Like the other guys said, it snowed at Atlanta like 10 years ago.

back when richmond was a half mile track, before they re-configured it inta a 3/4 mile track, it used to be the 2nd race of the year, right after the daytona 500. it was not unusual for it to snow there, but l do not recall if any of the races were actually snowed out. l do however, remember having to brush snow off of my seat there, more than once. that was many moons ago, long before the france family bought the track from paul sawyer. on a side note, it is funny how when the family who runs NASCAR bought the track, they moved the date from february, with it is crappy weather, to the first saturday in may (kentucky derby saturday) early spring when the weather is always beautiful, meaning more fans in the stands. hmmm

Seen a race in daytona in the 70 is when it wuz cold, real cold, took awhile to get that 50W oil thin.

I've been to Bristol when it snowed. It did not cancel the race but it sure was cold and that was the Spring race. Lol The temperature was in the real low 40 is if that, that was 2005, Kevin Harvick won.

Atlanta had snow one year. They showed it on ''This Week in Nascar'' Monday night.

It was wierd seeing all the haulers lined up in the infield covered with snow and ice!

l do remember a few years ago, there was a snow delay. l think it was the spring Bristol race. Kurt Busch even made some snow angels. There was also a snowball fight along pit road. First time l can remember that happening!

When l was at Bristol for a Spring race, it was snowing. They did not postpone or cancel it. It was not snowing real hard, but was pretty cold.

I'd have to check about the temperature but the 2006 Bristol Nationwide race was delayed, not postponed for snow. It was hilarious, the drivers were having snowball fights with the fans in the stands. The next day, Kurt Busch did snow angles when he won.

There was a red flag at Bristol during the Busch race in March 2006. l do remember it being chilly and l had left my winter jacket at home in Winnipeg. This next day was the cup race where Kurt Busch did the snow angel on the start finish line.

l was at the spring race in Atlanta in 1998. It rained cats and dogs on Sunday and the race was moved to Monday. By Monday morning, the temperatures dropped below freezing with 20-30 mph winds. BRRRR! AND l was on the backstretch. LOL
