Ive been reading about if Jimmie wins then something needs to change.... Would the same be said if it was JR. winning three in a row... l mean he is the most popular driver, is that why most want it changed. l know if it was Kyle Busch winning three in a row i'd be happy, yet l do not wanna see him win every time, l wanna see racing not one person pulling away and winning everything
http://community.nascar.com/crews/Head2Head
this is just one of many articals saying something needs to happen, please dont get me wrong im all for seeing some history made with the 48 winning 3 in a row. l do feel that the person that puts the most in during the regular season needs something more, look at last year with gordon and this year with bush... Im just getting opinions, l dont remember anyone talk bad about the bulls and thier three-peat, im just saying if this was JR. would the talk be the same
im not saying it needs to change because of my driver, just think something needs to change, to have that excitment the chase was suppose to bring

l did not read anything about someone saying if Jimmie wins they should change the chase format. Regardless of who wins l think they should change it.back to no chase and the one with the most points wins. Not wipe the slate clean after 7 months of hard work and THEN the one with the most points wins. lol

Yes l know it still would not be Kyle but that does not change the way l feel about the chase.

There was a fan vote before the Chase ever came into existence. The fans voted NO for the chase. Brian France allowed the chase anyway. Because Dale Earnhardt Jr has the most fans then u probably could say that a lot of his fans do want it changed . BUT . u CAN NOT say that he is the reason it is changing or people r discussing that it needs changing. That is ridiculous. There r a lot of different fans that want it changed & Dale Jr has nothing to do with it. It is merely different opinions.

The chase has proven time & time again to not prove who a true champion should be & it is basically a game of consistency as well as LUCK. Look at Kyle Busch. He is raced consistently the whole year but had bad luck when the chase started & went from first to last. l have heard numerous fans of Kyle (some that l never agree with also) say that they do not like the chase.

So trying to say things would be different because of a driver is misleading. A majority of the fans voted against the chase before it ever came into existence.

The reason people r discussing that it needs to be changed is because Kyle has won 8 victories this year & his chances of being the 2008 champion is all but over with 4 races still left in the season. The numbers speak for itself that the chase is flawed. Kyle is the reason it is being discussed & NOT Dale Earnhardt Jr.

l hope that clears things up for you.

Let me add this. Kyle is not the exclusive reason change to the chase format is being discussed. There were other drivers in the past that should have won the championship & didn't. It is the past as well as the present as a whole that is the reason people r second guessing the format.
---
Kyle would stand a lot better chance at a rebound if the points had not been reset for the chase as it is now with the chase. And also why is everyone always targeting me for reference in their ? l seems like l can not answer a question without someone wanting to argue with my answer.

they have talked about change since they changed the cahse, if they are actually talking about it, its just talk, they keep saying they dont want to change it further

The conversation would be the same if it were Jr., Kyle, or anybody. The concern is not with a particular driver, it is with the competitiveness of the chase. It is a decent article pointing out the pros and cons in his opinion. l just do not like the chase period.

l am the biggest Jimmie fan l know but l will be the first to say that the particular races in the chase r very good tracks, in general, for him. Personally, l would like to find a way to alternate the chase venues so that teams can not just test & prepare for the same 10 races evey year. Logistically it is probably not feasible but it would be nice. l too would like to see more of a bonus for the ''regular'' season winner & differentiation in the points based on where the drivers were when they entered it. l would also reduce the number of drivers back to 10. These r changes l would have liked to see regardless of how Jimmie has done or is currently doing.

There is a better than average chance l am one of the Kyle Busch fans that Tina never agrees with about anything, but she does speak the truth on this.
This debate has absolutely nothing to do with Dale.
The chase format will be one of those debates that will continue to carry on. l do not feel Kyle was ''robbed'' of a championship because of it, he would not be the points leader right now regardless of whether it was the chase format or the original points format, but he would still be within striking distance, & Jeff Gordon would have two more championships to his credit.
I've never liked it, & l never will. There r those who do, so be it, l respect their opinions, l just disagree with them.

l read that Head2Head article on nascar.com yesterday. l do not know if NASCAR is really thinking about any changes or not,but l think they r getting tired of hearing the 48 haters whine that the Chase is ''tailor-made fro Jimmie''. l am sure that is what NASCAR was thinking when they created it(rolls eyes). l would like to see some different tracks in the Chase, but l also like it the way it is.Bottom line is,unless they put all road courses & Bristol in the Chase,Jimmie is the best either way :)

l too have seen these articles. It seems that every year, no matter who it is, if the person leading the Chase is doing so by a large margin, people start whining & calling for change because it is too boring. So the theory that it would be different if it were Jr just does not hold up. Much like most inane conspiracy theories. Your logic is terribly flawed. That is why the Chase was put in place. To make the points closer at the end of the year thereby providing more excitemant. And it has done that to some extent. But everyone wants it to come down to the last race every year. Well folks. I've got some bad but realistic news for ya. It does not work!! You do not have to be a rocket scientist to figure it out. Carl Edwards was just being interviewed on SPEED & was asked if he felt it was over. He said shoot no! l know how quickly someone can lose 200 points. Too bad some fans do not posess that level of insight. This is a sport. Show me one sport that does not get boring some times. l remember many years in the NFL when there was one team just whoopin on everyone & even the superbowl was a blowout. Did the NFL change the system to ''make it more exciting?'' Gee. l do not remember that happening. Same in the NBA, NHL,and with MLB. Maybe l am the one that needs an attitude adjustment. You see, l love the RACING. The points r certainly important but secondary to the RACING. Would l like to see the championship be more closely contended for? Shoot yes. But it is secondary to the RACING. Would l love to see my man JR take the Cup? That would be the perfect season for me. But it is secondary to the RACING. l remember in the 70s when it was commonplace for the winner to be the only car on the lead lap. Did it get boring sometimes? Sure did. But how did the winner get out front? By RACING for the spot & keeping it. The anticipation is half the excitement. Anything can happen to anyone at any given moment. What does the the last letter in NASCAR stand for? You guessed it. RACING! They can play with the points system all they want. But what nobody seems to get is that these r numbers. It is all 3rd grade math. You can change them all u want but if a guy keeps winning consistently & finishing well when he does not win, he is gonna have a lot more points than anyone else. Much like a redneck wedding, it is all relative. LOL l am a redneck by the way so no haters need reply. Look folks. Your attitude about things like this says a lot about u as a person. Do u want what u want right now & have it just so like a 3 year old, or r u grown up enough to take the good with the bad knowing it just might get better? If not, go buy a house u can not afford & then call & ask me to bail u out with my tax dollars. Peace ya'all.

l like the chase although l could see giving more points to the winner of a race - either bonus points if they get into the chase, or an extra 50 points instead of just an extra 10 they get now for every race. right now, if jimmie were to go into homestead with a 50 point lead, he'd only have to finish 8th or better to clinch it. if the winner got a larger share of the points for winning, that would change.

as for kyle or jeff being ''robbed'' of championships or better positions because they would not have lost their big leads when the points were reset, that may be true, but u can not assume that simply by adding up points like they were not reset. teams race differently & have different strategies because of the chase. jimmie johnson obviously did not work as hard to win lots of races in the first 26 because he knew he'd get into the chase & shine there, so he spent the first 26 practicing. so he raced differently because there is a chase format. u can not just add his points from the first 26 to his points from the last 10 & assume that is how he would have done without the chase.

the ONLY way that would be true is if EVERYBODY raced exactly the same & finished exactly the same whether there was a chase format or not, & we know that is not true.
