l think people should be loyal to manufactures, l think thats important! what l hate is when people root for a driver cuz they like his personality, or the paint job on the car, what ever happen to driving styles or pulling for what is on the hood of the car!

that why l pull for all chevy drivers

l dont think manufacturers is the biggest thing in the sport, though l must admit l wont root for Toyota, but l choose drivers based off of personality, l am not going to pick a cocky rude disrespectful driver, even if he wins the most races.

Edit: Well someone has to root for the good guys, even if they dont finish first.

Yeah, l understand what you are saying TBone, l dont know whos giving thumbs down. l dont give anybody thumbs down.

driving styles. whatever is on the hood helps pay for my enjoyment and l do not really care what is on any hood. When Jr. had the bud car l did not by bud because he drove it. l do not buy M&M is because they are on the hood of Kyles car. why would anyone pull for a driver because of their sponsors??? l pull for the driver. he is the one to watch. Not manufacturers, not sponsors. The driver and his skill.

l was not looking for manufacturers. When l started watching in 02, Ryan Newman was a young prospect. l do not follow him that much now because of his uncharacteristic struggles.

l can care less about manufacturers, sponsors or cute colors on a car. It is about a mans drive to win & pure talent to bring home trophies. l do not care how cocky, rude or aggressive they may be. l learned a long time ago nice guys USUALLY finish last. As a matter of fact l never wear or buy Tony Stewart gear with sponsors on it. l refuse to line their pockets buying overpriced junk that they do not pay me to wear. Got it?

Yikes! No offense Winter. l can not see myself as a walking billboard without a paycheck.

Uh yuh yuh. My fingers r getting me in trouble tonight. Read through my nonsense Andrea. It is my way of expressing my point without actually hearing my vocal tones.

l could care less about a manufacturer.
l agree with everything Tbone said, except l am guilty of lining their pockets buying overpriced junk they do not pay me to wear.

T, you should know by now, l have no shame.

Products and manufacturers do not define the drivers.

Their style, personality, and flair define them.

You sort of answered your own question;

''what ever happen to driving styles''

So why are you asking us to be loyal to manufactures?

l never really cared about manufacturer either, l drove a Ford Taurus for years, l had all Chevy driver stickers on it. Both Earnhardts, Stewart, and Truex.

Watch a few races and maybe there will be a driver that you like to watch. l like watching the #1 car, l but l do not really pick favorites. l like to keep an open mind. People who are hell bent on one driver, have stuffy opinions. l like 'em all.

l could not disagree more. l choose a driver for who they are not what they drive. Personality, ability and morals mean more to me than the name on a car. That is like saying if you do not wear Dolce & Gabbana, Dior or Jimmy Choo, you do not matter. Bullpucky, what is on the inside counts not the tag on the outside.

a good friend at work was a mark martin fan for many many years.. now he cant stand the guy.. why nothing changed with him, just the decal on his car.. if you go for the manufactures than that is not pulling for a driver that is your way of going for whoever is the best ford, chevy, dodge, or toyota driver at a given time.. true fans stay with a driver. even when they get booed and bashed for liking that particular one..

let me give a little background, moved to NC from CA. Saw a commercial for NASCAR with Jeff Gordon & Dale Sr. Thought Jeff was cute & started cheering for him. Than someone told me l can not cheer for a driver based on his attractiveness, l need to know about the sport. Started watching INC, had no clue they were drivers & l was informed & entertained at the same time. l found my driver without knowing he was a driver. He is tall, good looking, handsome & funny & he is still on the show & l am still a huge fan of his. So l think my driver picked me, by being himself.

l also totally agree with Stephs' posting

l have been loyal to (manufacturer) Chevrolet since l was 6. l first chose Dale Earnhardt because he drove the black Goodwrench Chevy, remained loyal to him through thick & thin because of his personality & driving style. Then Dale Jr.

True, a driver can not be judged by his manufacturer or product hawked. But some people have to start somewhere, & l started with nuthin' but a good ol' Chevy!!

l must say there r other drivers l pull for especially when Dale Jr is out of contention & they happen to NOT drive toyotas. And l concur with whoever said they will not pull for any toyota driver & rude obnoxious cocky ones no matter how ''many races they win''.

Must not be a Junior Fan then huh? Nope, personality is what makes NASCAR really great. Frankly, we need a lot more of it. When was the last time we saw bonecrushingly, headsplittingly dull race at Martinsville? Oh, wait, that was last Sunday.

Where is Jeff Gordon and Matt Kenseth pushing and shoving? Where is someone throwing a helmet? l am going to have to start watching football here if someone does not make a race out of this chase.

mine were chosen as one was the hometown boy from vegas when l caught ''nascar fever'' while living there back in 2002/2003. then he was quoted saying his little brother was the best driver in the family & he was right.

as for manufacturers, they could all drive volkswagons, hondas, yugos, whatever. i've stuck by kurt in good times & manufacturers (roush ford) & bad (penske dodge). & i've stuck by kyle in chevy cars & trucks & now in toyota cars & trucks.

to me, liking a driver because of the manufacturer of the car he drives (especially as they all look the same) is like picking ur favorite basketball, baseball, or football players by the shoes/cleats they wear. it seems pretty puerile to me to say ''i will only like him if he is playing in nikes, but if he wears adidas, he sucks!!!''

Well my uncle & grandfather both bleed Ford Blue. When l 1st started getting into NASCAR l chose Rusty Wallace. Because he was a Ford driver at the time & he was sponsored by Miller Lite, so l got by with wearing alcholic shirts to High School. After Rusty switched to Dodge, l staied with him, l was hooked at that time. My mom staied with Bill Elliott & Dale Jarrett, even through the switches to Dodge & Toyota, because she likes them, as drivers.

Since Rusty retired l have been looking for a new fave, this year l choose Carl Edwards. l remember watching him in the Truck series a little. l liked him then & l still like him now. l was just wating for someone to grab my attention. This year Carl did, so he is my new fave. l like his style, his personality, & his manufacture is a nice bonus.

1 question though: Is a drivers driving style not just an extention & way of showing their personality? Becuase l have always thought that the 2 were pretty much the same thing.

Im from Australia & l like Clint Bowyer cause his car sponsor is Jack Daniels & my favourite V8 supercar driver, Larry Perkins team is sponsored by Jack Daniels. Its a Holden team (GM) & Clint drives a chev, so l wouldnt go for him if he was in a Ford or Toyota.

My other favourite V8 driver, Russell Ingall drove for Larry Perkins in a Holden for years then he went over to the darkside (ford) for a few years & l disowned him. He is back in a Holden this year, but im still dirty at him.

So yeah, id never follow a driver from Holden/Chev over to Ford.

l choose them for the overrall driver they are. It would be stupid to root for someone off of Manufacturers. Johny Benson is one of the nicest guys out there and he is in a Toyota (i hate toyotas) l chose Dale Jr. because he is all around cool guy. He likes to lay back and have fun and is the old school type of driver. he has good enough skills to make the chase and win races. That is why l chose Jr. as my favorite driver, not because he is in a Chevy.

the combination of personality and driving style - l am not loyal to a manufacturer.

l choose the young guys they are exciting and also drivers who have foundations to help people who really need it so thats why l have chosen Jamie McMurray and Kyle Busch as my favorite drivers
