l do not know to many open track for the general public in the united states to race on. l know there are a few drag strips i've heard of however, that does not show off a cars handling and a drivers skill...

and its very very expensive... its should be considered more of a ''show off'' for major car companies to debut there latest and greatest speed machine... since it seems only major car companies can compete in races

when was the last time your local high school when to state for a racing competition? you do not need a ball for something to be considered a sport (example: cycling & swimming) but you should be able to PLAY it when ever you want... at least that is what l think

Just like midget tossing can be considered a sport.

The Oxford English Dictionary defines sport as ''an activity involving physical exertion & skill in which an individual or team competes against another or others.''

Therefore car racing is a sport since it conforms to all of the above (indeed so is midget tossing, or wife carrying).

It is only illegal if u race on the public roads.

l race yachts. l can not do it whenever l want to - l can only race when a race has been organised. Also l can not race if l am not on the coast. Nobody would deny that yacht racing is a sport (except for maybe the Americas Cup which is a battle between lawyers).

a sport is an activity that is governed by a set of rules or customs & often engaged in competitively. they can involve physical, mental or even technological features but the physical & mental aspects r always above the techological oor whether factors.

its the physical & mental ability of the competitor which decides the winner.

but its always illegal to race in public roads as it poses danger to the life & property of the commons.
when u race in a specially built circuit for the purpose, its surely a tough competition

motor sport being a challenge involvine a car - a machine & a human, if we keep the car factor constant, the winner solely depends on human ability & that is A1 GP.
to add more challenge to the game, competition among the manufacturers of the car is the first level. the racing of such cars to victory is the second level.
if u fail in first, u must try really hard to succeed in second. na dvice versa, if u succeed in the first whereall others have failed, u can have an easy drive

so it can always be called a sport coz its always demanding better performance cars AND highly efficient driver. the two components r inexclusive of each other for victory. the right combination always gets victory

Well its illegal to beat the crp out of people but boxing is not illegal.

l guess u have go karting which is a kinda cheap way to get into racing.

Most major drap strips in Australia have 1 night week for street cars.

There r several circuits in Australia that hold days where u can take ur car to race (obviously the car has to be in a safe roadworhty state & saftey gear most be provided. Lots of people r getting into drifting aswell which many circuits run competitions at amatuer level.

>can car racing be considered a sport if it is illegal?

It is not illegal, though there r many regulations connected to where it can be done & how (very similar to other sports). Look up the definition of what is a sport & u will find it matches very very well.

>i do not know to many open track for the general public in the united states to race on.

And l do not know of any NFL Stadiums where l can go & play whenever l want, so l guess Football is not a sport? But for the record, anyone can pursue a competition license with SCCA of NASA in the United States, which pretty much opens every race track in the US as a possible place to race (and even without that, there r time trial & open track opportunities at most all venues).

>and its very very expensive.

So, l gather ur definition of a sport is something anyone can do anywhere at anytime for little or no cost? So. let me go out on a limb & see if l can guess, ur favorite sport must be sleeping?

Racing as a sport covers a wide range from junior karts to amatuer series on to the top flight pro series. Costs range here much as you'd see a cost difference between running a Youth Soccer club compared to mounting a World Cup run.

>when was the last time ur local high school when to state for a racing competition?

First, any drivers that r seriously pursuing a career will already be into the middle rungs of amatuer series at the least by the time they r in High School. And High School is far from a defining definition of ''what is sport.'' But fear not, there is no shortage of youth leagues, with almost all karting clubs & facilities having junior leagues for kids.

>but u should be able to PLAY it when ever u want. at least that is what l think

So, does this preclude soccer & football? If u do not have the ball u can not play whenever u want? Or if ur happen to be at sea in a small boat u can not play. therefore these r clearly not sports? Now if only u can find the competitive aspect to sleeping, l think u really will have found ur only true sport!

How about sailing for a sport.
How cheap is that.
l can afford a racing kart pulling 3 gs round corners much more than l can afford a boat thank you very much.
And l do not get wet either, nor sick.
