Hendrick can not run Martin in a 5th car, you can only do that for prepping a rookie for Cup racing, meaning that is either a lie or Casey is gonna get dumped. If he does, then this is a bunch of crap.

Lynn: Good point, l was not even thinking that it could of been a mutual decision. Still, l think it is unfair to Casey, being thrown around like that.

It sounds like a mutual decision to me. Martin goes to the # 5 early - Mears goes to RCR early. l do not see the problem.

EDIT: l agree. Casey is been tossed around too much. Hope he will do good at RCR and prove his critics (Tbone - lol j/k) wrong.

l feel so bad for Casey Mears. He is a great driver, my third favorite. Hendrick should have at least keep him for one more year. It takes a while for a driver to fit in with a new crew chief, after all. Personally, l think that this is a good decision to let them switch the drivers in this race. It will help them know what to expect for next year. But l wish they would not have released Casey in the first place. He would have done much better for Hendrick next year compared to this year. l wish the best for Mark & Casey in 2009. Hopefully Casey can qualify his way in at Homestead, too.

Well. What else is new? This has been Casey is Mears story since he started in cup. He keeps getting jerked around. l agree it is a bunch of crap & maybe it is a mutual decision but it would just be nice to see Mears with the same team longer than a year. l think he has potential but never gets the breaks. l wish him the best in the 33 & hope he can stay there for a few years. l mean, how can he get settled in & really show what he is made of if he is never with a team longer than a year?

is dei leaving martin out of his contract early? it dont make sense to stir up this trouble for only 1 race and last of season yet. mears getting raw deal anyway from hendrick.

This is a good move for Rick Hendrick. Casey can go see how RCR cars drive and Mark will see how the HMS cars drive. If Mark can have a car like he has had in most race with the 8 team this year l guarantee that he will be a factor to win the race.

Sucks for Casey. l doubt it was by mutual decision. Hendrick does not do anything by mutual decision, the front office people make all the decisions. It would not serve Casey any good by going early since it wo not be with the crew chief and crew he will have next year.

Martin doing well at Homestead wo not prove anything since the #5 has had some pretty good runs since Richmond.

here is why l think its true. martin was scheduled to run atlanta, texas, and homestead in the #8 car with almirola in at phoenix. however now l see martin is running atlanta, texas, and phoenix, so why did he take out homestead with the #8?? its b/c he is driving the #5 for hendrick theres the answer!!!

Well this normally happens in the post-Chase seasons in NASCAR, that if a team is making a change for next season & not in the Chase but secure enough in the top-35 (& ignoring mitigating circumstances like Kurt Busch is DU l arrest that got him booted out of the #97 with 2 races to go in his final season at RFR).

l do not see a problem with it. He is already going to HMS next season, what is wrong with getting a 1-race jump start on it? Same with Casey, he is moving on as well.
