The system is the way that it is because that is the way that NASCAR wants it to be & it is not going ot change. It is like college football where almost everyone wants to go to a PLAYOFF system but it just is not going to happen. All the drivers race by the same system so Jimmie Johnson does not have any advantage over any of them. If they want to win a tittle, they need to do their homework & get busy; otherwise the #48 crew will continue to drive (no pun intended) away with it until further notice. l am not necessarily upset with you; just tired of the continual complaining about the chase system when nothing is going to change....

The pupose of the chase was to keep someone from running away with the points system. The COT was designed to level the playing field. It seems like, & even a few drivers has made this statement, that the comptition is so close with the COT that there is no room for mistakes or just driving conservatively. Each drivers has to drive their butts off every race now.

Well if that is so, & the competition is closer, then there is no need for the chase is there? With Kyle being the only excption to this next statement . the points has been closer all year & there has been less of drivers running away with the points.

Kyle Bush said himself at Atlanta before the race that other teams r catching back up to Joe Gibbs' cars. It even appears to be true from watching the most current races. l think next year it will be even closer & the chase will prove to be useless except for maybe NASCAR using it to benefit some certain driver that they would like to see as the champion.

So yes it seems ironic. But then again how often does NASCAR make the wrong calls? Maybe it is not that ironic after all .!

Congrats to Jimmie. we are seeing history being made by one of the greatest out there. l hope people realize that. One day, l get to tell my grandchildren.. l SAW Jimmie Johnson win three straight titles. In MY day.

l just hope that NASCAR does not change the Chase AGAIN. That to me shows that NASCAR really is not committed. And plus, l would loose a lot of respect for the sport. Hate to say it.

It is not ironic. The Chase format was a huge mistake, same as the other lame rules the France family instituted (top 35, lucky dog, COT, etc.) NASCAR is not the WWE wrestling deal. Jeff Gordon already got scr*w*d one year due to the Chase.

l find it to be very ironic. l do not quite understand why NASCAR thought it'd be better, clearly, one can still ''run away'' with points lead even with the Chase format.

And l bet, looking at the classic point system, Kyle would be very content with where he is on there. Third is a heck of a lot better than 12th, especially when he would have been only 203 points out of the lead & not the 465 points he is now. He would still be in contention for the championship at this point.

The chase was not created ot keep the points close, it was to ensure that Hendrick Motorsports would win almost all the chase championships.

It is a little ironic.Either way,Jimmie is the man!!!!

One more reason to get rid of the chase.
