Hi guys,

Just wanted to ask has the first race of any Formula 1 season ever been wet? l do not mean in Practice and in Qualifying, l just mean the actual race. All the curtain-raisers have always been dry, l think :-)
Rosbif you are correct l remember the end of the 1993 South African GP there was a thunderstorm and Warwick spinning off. Thanks

l do not know if the first race of the season has ever been wet going all the way back to 1949. If this year is wet Belgian Grand Prix was not a barnburner l do not know what was.

2005 australian gp,melbourne was wet.i guess..!! not sure.

Qualifying for Australia 2005 opener was. Otherwise its back to the 1954 Argentine and 1951 Swiss GPs for wet season openers.

Julian is missed a couple: the 1972 Argentinian GP was wet, and the 1993 South African GP had some rain. The 2003 & 2004 Australian GPs also both had light rain, but not enough for people to go onto wets.
