The way the car will be set up for the race
some used race trim for qualifying because it is an impound race
thats what they want to start with

Race trim means the car is setup for long runs. They sacrifice some overall speed so the car will still be drivable by the end of the fuel window.

Qualifying trim is setup to run 2 laps. Its probably very loose because loose is faster than tight. After more than a few laps the car would be pretty much undrivable because its so loose & the tires will probably wear out very quickly. The lap times will drop off very quickly.

In the past (its illegal now) teams ran special qualifying engines which made more power but would never last an entire race, used thinner fluids (less resistance), & probably many other tricks.

A lot of the cars up front had to qualify on speed & probably used a qualifying trim. Look for them to drop back quickly because the cars wont handle well.

In race trimsetup the team concentrates on getting the car to handle as best as possible, trying to get rid of any pushing or loose conditions. The team wants the car to drive well on long green runs when the tires get hot and there is a full tank of fuel.

That means NASCAR officials will impound the cars and teams will not get a chance to work on them again. l guess most teams will set their car up as race trim
