While my husband is a fan, we have never attended a NASCAR race in person.l jokingly told him that l did not care to go unless we had suite tickets.Well, he came through and we are going to the BofA 500 this weekend.l am told that we will also have a pit/garage tour.We will get there via bus so we will not have to worry about parking.l hear there is a dress code in the garage area but l do not know the details.Are cameras and phones allowed?May l bring a bag of some sort into the speedway?l know the volume is loud but do l need ear plugs in a suite?We are big sports fans so l know the rules and regs about most of them except for NASCAR.l understand qualifying and that the first car across the line wins but l would appreciate some tips on the finer points of racing so l do not look like a complete rookie!l thank you and my husband thanks you in advance for any words of wisdom.

You can expect to be a MUCH BIGGER FAN when you get back. The first time is really a ''WOW'' experience and l am thrilled for ya!! When those cars come by you the first time at full speed you will really be jacked up!!

You r going to have so much fun! Yes there is a dress code in the garage & pit areas u have to wear long pants & no tank tops or sandals they must be covered shoes. Yes, u can bring a camera & a phone. You will have to check the rules & regulations about what size bag u can bring just go to the web-site they will have all the details u need there. It is REAL loud, l do not use ear plugs the sound is one of my favorite things about being there but since it is ur 1st time would not hurt to have a set just in case, better to be prepared.

Here is a fun tip..at the start of the race & any cautions laps the pit car comes out to lead the pack around the track when the flashing lights on the pit car r turned off that means 1 lap till they go green flag racing.

NASCAR fans r the friendliest folks l have met so do not worry about being a rookie in fact tell everyone u r & l will bet u will have everyone in that suite giving u all sorts of tips, telling u entertaining stories & giving advise on anything u need to know. Really, they r wonderful people.

l do not really know what to tell you because l do not watch races from the suites;you might as well watch it at home in my opinion.

l hope you enjoy it,but it is not my thing. l like to be out there with the fans in the stands where all the action happens.

You will miss out on a lot by being in the suites. Everybody I've talked to said they would rather be in the seats than the suites. You will not be able to hear them, feel them, smell them as they go by. The tour of the pits and garage will be great though.

They usually send you a booklet with your tickets with all the rules and stuff. Dress code for the garage area/pit road is long pants, no sleeveless shirts and closed-toed shoes. l know cameras and phones are allowed in the stands but l am not entirely sure in the garage area. It is extremely loud but l do not know if you will need earplugs in a suite. I'd bring them just in case though.

Huge crowds. Get there early. Do not plan to be anywhere afterwards you will be in traffic for a longggg time.

Hey, expect a lot of nice people to help u out & show u the ropes when u get there - in addition to what u get here.

In the garage area, u need to dress for safety. Closed toe shoes, pants & something non-sleeveless. You can have on a tank top if u have another shirt over it.

Carry ur camera & phone. And call any NASCAR FAN friends from the track. LOL - we all love to hear the engines when the green flag drops even if u can not hear us on ur end of the phone.

l am not sure about the ear plugs in the suite. l do not wear earplugs at all but some of my family members do.

Sometimes it is hard to see the cars when they're going right in front of you. watch the races in & out of the corners & on the other side of the track.

You can bring a bag. Usually they specify that they want u to have a see-through bag but I've carried in non-see-through bags & no one is ever given me a problem. The tracks where I've been have specified the size that my bag could be so u might check with the track on that.

Have a great time!!!! And do not worry about rules & regs - mostly just see who passes whom & watch for the exciting stuff.
