No. l do not think they should get rid of them.
Safety is always a priority with NASCAR, and the restricted racing of today is nowhere near as dangerous as the restricted racing of years gone by.
That was a pretty brutal wreck on Sunday, but all the drivers were okay.
No one went tossing and turning in the infield. It is all good.

Simple, get rid of the ground effects & spoilers (run stock bodies front to rear) & the driver would have to get out of the gas going into the corner.
If that doesnt do it, make them run on 8 inch slicks as well.
Have the driver ''drive'' the car insted of going wide open all day long.
And no they would not be able to go 220 with no spoilers & smaller tires. They would have to slow down way to much going into 1 & 3. (NO GRIP)

To Winter Glory: Do u think its more ''safe'' having 10 -20 cars wrecking all at once or 1 or 2? If they would get rid of the restrictors the field would open up & they would no longer have ''The Big One''

No. I'd like to attend races knowing a car wo not land in my lap as l take a sip of Budweiser. Or any child is for that matter. l like to feel safe. The plates were put on for the safety of the fans SideBite. Not the drivers. They are more safe then the fans and in your logic by taking away ground affects the cars would be able to take off at lesser speeds and again that is not good.

They would have to go either to a smaller V-8 or V-6. Rusty Wallace two years ago drove the #2 Miller Lite at Talladega under NASCAR is supervision, without a restricter plate (fact). He hit 232 mph on the backstretch on his second lap. The flagged him in. He said afterward he had no feeling of his car on the track, plus they were concerned his tires would not last even though Goodyear had provided state of the art tires rated for that speed.

One way or another they have to keep the speeds down. You cant have a car tear down the catch fence again & risk someone going into the stands. l believe that wreck was in the tri oval too.

I'd like to see slower cornering speeds this way they would not get too fast on the straights (less than 210) even with the unrestricted engines. They might need to get into the 170s for that though because the straights r pretty long.

Here r some ideas.
1. Cut the tire width or use a harder compound to reduce traction. They already run narrow tires & the cars r heavy. l worry that this would lead to more tire issues or instability.
2. Softer suspension would make the car roll more & reduce stability. Unstable cars would be very hard to race near other cars.
3. Lower the banking & progressive banking. The best solution because the cars would have to slow down, lower tire loads, not hurt stability, seems to make very good racing with several groove. Takes massive money & now is not the time for that.

I'd leave it the way it is.

l dont think they should get rid of restrictor plate racing. It adds a difference in the sport much like road racing does.

No, l think the smaller fuel cell was a good idea to split the pack up and bring strategy into it, not just a mass of cars for 500 miles.

No way; l think they're plenty exciting enough already. No need to compromise the drivers' safety even more.

Restrictor plates were implemented to save not only the drivers but the fans. Their use dates from many years ago when a car actually almost flew over the fence into the grandstands. l think the plates have to stay.

l do not think that is a good idea..just ask Denny Hamlin.

l think they should go to a smaller engine and then remove the restrictor plate. Technology has outgrown the tracks. The cars are too fast for the larger tracks.
