Why is Darrell Waltrip no longer an announcer on the NASCAR pre-race show

Darrell only does the first half of the season. The powers that be switch networks and announcers part way thru the season.

He works for Fox. ESPN/ABC cover the last portion of the season and use their contracted announcers.

He only does the first half of the season as those races are on Fox and he is a race broadcaster for Fox Network. Each network has their own broadcasters.

l just wanted to say l sure do miss DW is Boogity, Boogity, Boogity let is go racin boys! It is dose not seem right not to hear those words, they belong right along with ''Gentlemen Start Your Engines''

He is an announcer from the Daytona 500 to the Best Buy 400. He is not on any shows after that.

good ol' D.W. took the summer off to get a facelift and hair implants.

Darrell is on FOX which does the 1st 13 races of the Cup season. Their pre-race show line up consists of Chris Myers, Darrell & Jeff Hammond.

Then TNT takes over the next 6. Their pre-race show consists of Larry McReynolds, Kyle Petty & Marc Fein.

Then ESPN/ABC covers the rest of the season with ABC covering the Chase races. Their pre-race line up is Rusty Wallace, Brad Daugherty & Allen Bestwick.

DW only announces on FOX. now the races are on ABC with the ESPN announcers. Do not worry, DW will be back in February. ^_~
